Service Description
There’s nothing quite like a classic strawberry shortcake—especially when every component is made from scratch. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to create a perfectly balanced, bakery-worthy dessert featuring tender, lightly sweetened buttermilk biscuit shortcakes, juicy macerated strawberries, and rich vanilla bean whipped cream. We’ll start by mastering the art of biscuit-making. You’ll learn how to properly cut butter into flour for that flaky, tender texture, how to handle the dough without overworking it, and how to shape and bake golden, beautifully risen shortcakes. These techniques are foundational and can be used for both sweet and savoury baking. While the shortcakes bake, we’ll prepare fresh strawberries, gently macerated to bring out their natural juices and flavour. You’ll also make a luscious vanilla bean whipped cream, learning how to achieve the perfect texture and balance of sweetness. Once everything is ready, we’ll assemble our shortcakes—layering warm biscuits with syrupy strawberries and clouds of whipped cream for a dessert that’s simple, elegant, and absolutely delicious. In this class, you’ll learn: * How to make tender, flaky buttermilk biscuit shortcakes from scratch * Proper techniques for cutting in butter and handling dough * How to macerate strawberries for maximum flavour and texture * How to make and flavour stabilized vanilla bean whipped cream * How to assemble and present a beautiful strawberry shortcake What you’ll get: * Hands-on instruction in a small, supportive group setting * A full portion to enjoy in class * Recipes to take home so you can recreate everything with confidence Perfect for beginners and experienced home bakers alike, this class focuses on simple techniques that deliver impressive results. Whether you’re baking for family, entertaining guests, or just want to elevate a classic dessert, this is a recipe you’ll come back to all summer long.
